3 Irresistible Ways To Scent Your Home (that don’t involve a candle)

By Team Mitzie

This post is all about scenting your home using things that aren’t candles.

This post goes out there to all the candle people, I used to be one of them, and on occasion I admit it, I still am. Candles are a perfect way to relax but if you’re looking for something to scent your home you’ve got to splash out on an expensive one. If your buying a candle that is the same price as a mortgage then you’re sure as hell not going to burn it all at once.

You’re going to be on full time candle watch, which is not relaxing and takes away from the whole point of lighting one. This kind of thinking led me to look for something a little different to make my home smell as good as it deserves to.

Who has amazing taste in home scenting products? You? Yes! You!  Let’s get into it.

1. Ponsont Incense Papers $24

Starting with my most intriguing find, Incense Paper. Now, i’d never heard of incense paper until recently but apparently it’s been around since 1885. The way it works is you rip a perforated strip out of the booklet, fold it like an accordion and burn it in a non-flammable dish of your choosing.

The process is extremely satisfying and the results are dreamy, the scent lingers more than any candle i’ve ever lit. Another great thing about these incense papers is that they’re so easy to travel with. Just pop them in your bag which will subsequently smell incredible and light them up wherever you’re staying for instant relaxation. These particular incense papers sell out fast with each re-stock, at one point I was on an email wait list for them. They are That. Damn. Good.

These incense papers by Ponsont come in two scents, Rosa Rosa which has notes of Rose Otto, Sandalwood and Honey. This is my personal favourite, it smells deep and woody and well, just heavenly. The second scent is Le Patch which is a blend of Aged Patchouli, Rose and Benjoin, also very scrumptious.

2. Haeckels Chalk Room Diffuser Set £100

My next find is equally as intriguing and I must say aesthetically incredible. It comes in the form of chalk… I know, just bear with me on this one. This little block of chalk holds magical scent dispersing superpowers.

The way it works is you sit the chalk in a little dish and squeeze out 50ml of essential oil into the base. The porous chalk absorbs the essential oils and out floats the scent and healing properties of your chosen EO.

Not only is this an amazing way to scent your home, it makes an amazing talking point for your next work zoom call. Just strategically position this on your desk and voila, you’re already the most interesting person on the call. But let’s face it, you already were pre chalk diffuser.

3. OIMU Perfumed Sachet £14.49

Now onto the third find, but real quick, has anyone else at one point in their life put dried lavender in an old sock then kept it in your underwear draw hoping it will scent your undies. And it does! For about half a day.

Well, this one is the exact same idea but it actually works and most importantly, it lasts! Praise be. These perfumed sachets are filled with incense powder which has been infused with natural fragrance oils.

These oils are slowly released into your wardrobe compartment of choice and will make your clothes smell so beautiful. You can also dot these around in other spots in the house for the full scent experience.
